Rosalie Arthur

“They are not lost who find the light of sun and stars and God.”

Rosalie Sue (Joerger) Arthur, 82, of Sandusky, passed away early Sunday afternoon, August 6, 2023, at home after a brief illness.

She was born on November 12, 1940, in Sandusky, to Margaret Ursula (McCann) and Leroy Joerger. Rosalie graduated from Sandusky High School in 1958. After graduation, she worked for Peerless Stove for five years. She then worked for the Sandusky School System as a secretary, retiring in 2000, before being employed as the Meals on Wheels coordinator at the Sandusky Senior Center. Rosalie was also the co-owner of Ronnie’s Beer Dock with her husband, Bill.

Rosalie married William E. “Bill” Arthur on June 15, 1963 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sandusky. They then moved to New York City for Bill’s enlistment in the U. S. Army.

Rosalie enjoyed family time, gardening, crocheting, puzzles and watching the birds and other animals in her front yard. She was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and active at the Elks Club #285 for 30 years. As a young girl, she lived with her parents in the employee dorms at Cedar Point, where her parents worked for George Boeckling. She had the run of the park while under the watchful eyes of the amusement park employees.

She leaves behind her two children; Debra A. Arthur (Richard Wilke) and Susan L. Stovall; her grandsons, Reed W. Gossard and Hagan A. Stovall; sister-in-law, Shirley Arthur; brother-in-law, James A. Arthur; and various nieces, nephews and good friends.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Joyce (Augie) Kauffman and Marilyn (Frank) Stewart; and her brother-in-law, Thomas G. Arthur.

The family will receive friends on Saturday morning, August 12, 2023 from 9 am until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Monte Hoyles officiating. Those of you wishing to attend are invited to wear aqua/turquoise, her favorite color.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Cancer Tees Me Off, in care of Sue Johnson, 117 Marshall Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to Cancer Services, 912 Perry Street, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to donor’s favorite charity.

Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
