Man arrested for rape of 14-year-old girl

BELLEVUE – A 55-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl at a Thompson Township home.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office says on May 20, they received a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a juvenile at 7849 N. County Road 29 house. The Sheriff’s Office says upon further investigation and obtaining evidence, a warrant was issued on July 20 for Frederick Podeyn, who resides at the same address of the alleged assault.

Podeyn turned himself into authorities on July 21 and is currently being held at the Seneca County Jail on a $750,000 bond for a charge of first-degree felony rape.

Seneca County Sheriff Fredrick Stevens said, “Based on the facts and circumstances of this entire investigation, I truly believe that Seneca County is safer this evening because this individual is off our streets.”
