Overdose Spike Alert issued for Erie County

SANDUSKY – The Erie County Health Department issued an Overdose Spike Alert on Friday morning due to three overdoses occurring in Erie County during a 24-hour period.

The Health Department is asking people to be aware of suspected Fentanyl in substances such as pressed or counterfeit pills, cocaine, meth, and heroin. Fentanyl is about 50 times more potent than heroin.

Free Narcan is available for anyone who has a loved one experiencing opioid use disorder at the Erie County Health Department’s narcanerieohio.com. Narcan, also known as naloxone, can treat narcotic overdose in an emergency.

Individuals who have an opioid use disorder and would like to begin recovery can call the Erie County Detox Center at 419-624-3353.
