Erie County track athletes compete at OATCCC Indoor State Meet

GENOVA – On Friday, the top high school track and field athletes who spent the winter practicing and competing for the regularly-spring sport competed at the OATCCC Indoor State Meet.

The event was held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva.

In order to qualify for the meet, an athlete or relay team must have been listed on the Top 40 Performance List from MileSplit Ohio for the event in which they intended to compete. The top 24 athletes or relay teams that declared their intent to compete were accepted for the meet.

Here are the results of Erie County athletes:

Perkins Sophomore Owen Stewart finished tenth in the preliminary round of the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.71 seconds and sixth in the finals with a time of 8.52 seconds.

Vermilion’s 4×200 boys relay team finished 21st with a time of 1:37.22. Their 4×200 boys relay team finished ninth with a time of 3:36.9. The Sailors’ also finished 23rd in the 4×800 with a time of 8:54.80.

Margaretta Senior JT Patrick finished fourth in shot put with a score of 55-08.00.

Vermilion Senior Hayden Valenti finished fifth in weight throwing with a score of 59-07.00. He also finished 13th in shot put with a score of 49-00.75.

Vermilion Senior Brinley Partin finished 16th in the preliminary round of the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.92.

Perkins Junior Ellie Bodle finished 19th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:26.88.

Huron Senior Kennedy Schlessman finished seventh in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:18.52. Her teammate, Junior Jadyn Towns, finished 13th with a time of 5:25.62.

Huron’s 4×800 girls relay team finished third with a time of 9:56.25.

Perkins Junior Olivia Mason finished second in shot put with a score of 40-04.25. Vermilion Junior Meagan Rini finished 19th with 33-09.00, and Margaretta Senior Jennifer Patrick finished 23rd with a score of 33-00.50.
