Huron Tiger girls cross country team advances to state

TIFFIN – The Huron Tiger girls cross country team advanced to the OHSAA State Meet at regionals on Saturday.

The Tigers finished the Division 3 race in sixth place, one place ahead of the top seven requirement that was needed to qualify. Huron was led by Kennedy Schlessman, who finished third with a time of 18:39.6, and Jadyn Towns, who finished in 17th place with a time of 19:20.3. Both Schlessman and Towns competed at state individually last year and qualified to do the same this year. Behind Schlessman and Towns was 77th place Samantha Lesnak, 100th place Liz Heidl, 108th place Lucy Watson, 133rd place Allison Blevins, and 175th place Olivia Kohlmann.

The St. Paul Flyers boys teams also qualified for state. They finished seventh and were led by Ian Deeter, who finished 16th overall with a time of 16:37.2. Behind Deeter was 39th place Isaac Thimke, 63rd place Nick Centa, 100th place Owen Thimke, 102nd place Seth Ridge, 137th place Gavin Ross, and 169th place David Forrest.

Also in the Division 3, Edison’s Kellen McDonnell and Grace Anderson qualified individually. McDonnellI finished in 26th place with a time of 16:42.1, and Anderson finished fourth with a time of 18:42.7.
