Edison, Huron cross country teams advance to regionals

GALION – Both the Edison Chargers and Huron Tigers boys and girls cross country were among the teams that qualified for regionals at Saturday’s Galion District Championships meet.

In the Division 3 boys race, the Seneca East Tigers, St. Paul Flyers, Edison Chargers, Huron Tigers, and New London Wildcats advanced. Finishing first in the race was Colonel Crawford’s Shawn Auck, who had a time of 16:51.42.

The Flyers were led by Isaac Thimke, who finished seventh overall with a time of 17:23.17, and Gavin Ross, who finished thirteenth overall with a time of 17:50.67. Behind Thimke and Ross were 19th place Seth Ridge, 22nd place Nick Centa, 34th place Owen Thimke, 36th place David Forrest, and 48th place Ian Deeter.

The Chargers were led by Jackson Michaelis, who finished fifth with a time of 17:22.77, and Kellen McDonnell, who finished eighth with a time of 17:26.92. Behind Michaelis and McDonnell were 18th place Everett Gfell, 38th place Ricky Oliver, 44th place Quentin Cox, 49th place Chase King, and 64th place Colin Butler.

The Huron Tigers were led by Tyler Kohlmann, who finished ninth with a time of 17:31.92, and Sage Edgerly-Bork, who finished eighth with a time of 18:06.65. Behind Kohlmann and Edgerly-Bork were 29th place Beren Dennis, 30th place Carter Schlessman, 31st place Ryan Sas, 33rd place Nathan Hinners, and 37th place Jake Case.

In the Divison 3 girls race, the Colonel Crawford Eagles, Crestview Cougars, Huron Tigers, Edison Chargers, and New London Wildcats advanced. Finishing first in the race was New London’s Reese Landis, who had a time of 18:27.87.

Behind Landis was Huron’s Kennedy Schlessman, who finished with a time of 18:47.44. Behind Schlessman on the Tigers was eighth place Jadyn Towns, 27th place Lucy Watson, 30th place Samantha Lesnak, 34th place Liz Heidl, 38th place Allison Blevins, and 63rd place Olivia Kohlmann.

Coming in third place was Edison’s Grace Anderson, who had a time of 18:51.69. Behind Edison for the Chargers was ninth place Payton Facemire, 23rd place Maylie Weilnau, 41st place Mary Anderson, 34th place Liz Heidl, 56th place Lily Risner, and 58th place Zoey Corfman.

The Perkins Pirates boys advanced in the Division 2 race. The Pirates were led by 10th place Max Davis, who had a time of 17:20.06, and 12th place Colin Ellis, who had a time of 17:32.18. Behind Davis and Ellis were 19th place Ty Klepper, 24th place Keegan Dulaney, 26th place A.j. Bores, and 42nd place Carter Deering. On the girls race, Perkins’ Ellie Bodle advanced individually by finishing in eighth place with a time of 21:30.30.

The regional meet will be held on Saturday in Tiffin.
