First-round pairings for football playoffs announced

COLUMBUS – The Ohio State Athletic Association released the first-round football playoff pairings on Sunday afternoon, following the regular season’s conclusion on Saturday.

The top 16 schools in each region qualified for the postseason. As a result, 448 schools will be continuing on.

Most first round games are scheduled to be played on Friday, October 28 at 7PM. The higher seed school will serve as host for the game.

Below is how local schools were paired up for Friday

For a second week in a row, the Huron Tigers will be playing the Edison Chargers at home. The Tigers have a 8-2 record, and the Chargers have a 6-4 record. Last Friday, the Tigers beat the Chargers 31-6. These teams are in Division 5 Region 18.

For the first time in 20 years, the Margaretta Polar Bears will be playing the postseason. They will be playing at Colonel Crawford. Both teams have an 8-2 record. These teams are in Division 6 Region 22.

The Perkins Pirates will be competing against the River Valley Vikings at home. The Pirates have a 9-1 record, and the Vikings have a 5-5 record. These teams are in Division 4 Region 14.

The St. Paul Flyers will be play the David Anderson Blue Devils at home. The Flyers have a 7-3 record, and the Blue Devils have a 5-5 record. These teams are in Division 7 Region 25.
