Mark Ackerman

Mark A. Ackerman, 71, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 18, 2022 at Firelands Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

Mark was born on July 12, 1951 in Sandusky, OH to the late Franklin “Frank” J. and Camille (D’Amario) Ackerman.

Mark graduated from St. Mary’s Central Catholic in 1969. He retired from Hart Advertising after 40 years of service as a billboard sales representative. Mark was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Sandusky Elks Lodge #285, where he played in the golf league, Plum Brook Country Club, the former IAB Club and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing, dog walks, playing poker and spending time with his family and friends.

Mark is survived by his wife, Carolyn (McLaughlin) Ackerman, whom he married on November 2, 1984. He is also survived by his daughters, Cara Ackerman of Woburn, MA and Brooke (Scott) Tallman of Columbus, OH; grandson, Anthony Tallman; sisters, Renee (Tom) Harnsberger of Pacific Palisades, CA and Francene (Bill) Sheehan of Columbus, OH; brothers, Kim Ackerman of San Francisco, CA and Chris (Peggy) Ackerman of Columbus, OH; mother-in-law, Elsie Homegardner of Sandusky; brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Chris McLaughlin of Sandusky and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Mark is preceded in death by his fathers-in-law, Dan McLaughlin and George Homegardner.

Friends may call on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Father Monte Hoyles will officiate. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
