David Olds

David Bradley Olds, 82, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday morning, October 18, 2022 surrounded by his family at Firelands Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

David was born on July 31, 1940 in Sandusky, OH to the late Bradley G. and Ruth (Raab) Old.

Dave grew up in Sandusky attending Holy Angels School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1958. He was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. After high school, he served in the US Navy, returning to Sandusky, where he married Lois (McEowen) Olds. David retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service. Dave volunteered at the Sandusky State Theatre for many years, and was also a member of the American Legion Post #83 and the AMVETS Post #17. He was an avid Cleveland Indians/Guardians and Browns fan.

David is survived by his sons, David (Shannon) Olds of Fremont and Daniel Olds of Sandusky; grandchildren, Mason and Kylah; sister-in-law, Joyce (Nutzki) Old; niece, Denise Hermes of Sandusky; nephew, Mike Old of Clyde and their children and many friends.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his wife, Lois J. (McEowen) Olds in 2017 and brother, John “Jack” Old.

Friends may call on Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Monday, October 24, 2022 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Father Jacob George will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post #83 and the VFW #2529.
