Nancy Konery

Nancy Esther (Hoyman) Konery, 79, residing in Vermilion, peacefully passed away Thursday morning, September 22, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

Nancy was born on June 25, 1943 in Neenah, WI to the late Ernest and Esther (Arndt) Hoyman.

Moving to Ohio at the age of 10, Nancy graduated from Vermilion High School in 1961. She graduated from the Northern Institute of Cosmetology in Lorain and was a hairdresser for 40 years. She later became a supervisor in the retail industry. Nancy loved music. She knew how to play several instruments and even wrote her own songs, which are copyrighted. In the 60’s, she played in an all female band called the “Satin Dolls”, all the members were beauticians. Then she joined an all male band, “The Fables”. Later in life, she played with a couple of praise bands and also played in a duo called “Double Treble”. She also was a Girl Scout Leader, a Youth Group Leader and a nursery school teacher at United Church of Christ Congregation . Nancy not only loved to learn but also enjoyed sharing her knowledge with others. She loved being adventurous, making people laugh and living life to the fullest. She enjoyed taking crafting classes, and eventually teaching them, reading Tarot cards and tea leaves, being on, in or near the water, playing horseshoes, cornhole and board games, being a huge fan of the Cleveland Indians and spending time with her family and friends.

Nancy is survived by her children, Candice (Bill) Roach and Brian (Brandy) Konery; her grandson, whom she had a very special bond with, Brodie Konery; sister, Sally (Mike) Roberts and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended loving family members.

In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her sister, Arlene and brother, Tommy.

A memorial service on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Vermilion United Church of Christ Congregation, 990 State St., Vermilion. Rev. Melinda Quellhorst will officiate. Following services a celebration of life will be held in the Fellowship Hall. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
