Local highway construction for the week of September 12

Here is a look at construction projects that are anticipated by the Ohio Department of Transportation to impact highways in Erie, Huron, Lorain, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Seneca counties on the week of September 12.

Erie County

State Route 99, at the railroad tracks between SR 113 and Strecker Road, will close Monday, September 19 for railroad crossing repairs. The detour route for northbound motorists will be SR 99 to SR 113, west on SR 113 to SR 4, north on SR 4 to SR 99, and reverse for southbound motorists. Estimated completion: Friday, September 23, 2022

Huron County

State Route 13, just south of U.S. 224, will close Monday, August 29 for a culvert replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists will be SR 13 to SR 603, north on SR 603 to SR 61, north on SR 61 to U.S. 224, east on U.S. 224 to SR 13, and reverse for southbound motorists. Estimated completion: Wednesday, October 12, 2022

U.S. 20 along the Norwalk Bypass, from SR 99 to Cleveland Road, will have single lane closures as needed for bridge painting at structures along the bypass. Estimated completion: October 2022

Lorain County

SR 10, between U.S. 20 and I-480, will have eastbound and westbound lane closures for a resurfacing project. At least one lane in each direction will be maintained.

  • The SR 10 eastbound exit ramp (SR 57/U.S. 20 east/SR 301 North) and the SR 57 entrance ramp to SR 10 east will close Monday, September 12 for 7 days to remove and replace the concrete median island.
    • The detour route for motorists traveling to SR 57/U.S. 20 east/SR 301 north will continue on SR 10 to the SR 83 N. Ridgeville/Wooster exit, take the exit and turn left onto Alternate SR 83, reenter onto SR 10 west and exit at the SR 10 exit ramp to SR 57/U.S. 20 east/SR 301 north.
    • The detour route for motorist traveling from SR 57 south to SR 10 east will be to take the U.S. 20 west/SR 301 south entrance ramp, take U.S. 20/SR 10 west to the SR 301 exit, take the Grafton Road exit and reenter onto U.S. 20/SR 10 east.
  • Estimated reopening of ramps: Monday, September 19, 2022

Ottawa County

State Route 2, between SR 358 and SR 163 (east of Port Clinton), will experience lane restrictions for resurfacing through August.

State Route 53, between State St. and E. Sloan/N. Crogan, Port Clinton, will experience lane restrictions for resurfacing through October.

State Route 105, between S. Elliston-Trowbridge Rd. and Stange Rd., Harris Twp., will be closed for a culvert replacement through Tuesday, September 6. Detour: SR 590 to SR 163 to SR 51.

State Route 105/State Route 163, Oak Harbor, will close Sept. 6 for four days for a railroad crossing repair. Detour: SR590, SR2, SR19 back to SR105/SR163.

State Route 163, between SR 105 and SR 19, Oak Harbor, will be closed for the annual Oak Harbor Apple Fest beginning Friday, October 7 through Sunday, October 9. Detour: SR 590 to SR 2 to SR 19.

State Route 163 at Billman Rd., Genoa, is closed for a bridge replacement through September. Detour: SR 163 to N.Fostoria Rd. to W. Holt Harrigan Rd. to N. Billman Rd.

State Route 163, at N.Shore Boulevard and Englebeck Road, Marblehead, will be reduced to one lane with traffic maintained via a temporary traffic signal beginning Sept. 6 through Nov. 15 for construction of a roundabout.

N. Shore Boulevard and Englebeck Road will close Sept. 6-Nov. 15. Detour for N. Shore Boulevard: Erie Beach Road to SR 163. Detour for Englebeck Road: E. Bayshore to South Bayshore back to SR 163.

Sandusky County

U.S. Route 6/SR 53, U.S. Route 20, and E. State St., may experience lane restrictions for finish work following the completion of a ramp realignment.

Seneca County

U.S. Route 224 at State Route 587, New Riegel, is closed for roundabout construction through August. U.S. 224 Detour: US 23 to SR 18 to US 224. SR 587 Detour: SR 53 to SR 18.
