Man accused of punching other man during argument over dog getting loose

SANDUSKY – A 45-year-old man was arrested Friday after he allegedly got into an argument with a man and then punched another man who attempted to intervene.

According to the report from the Sandusky Police Department, police responded to the Sandusky Harbor Marina for a report of a fight. When they arrived, they spoke to Joseph Reynolds, who was walking his dog and had blood on his arms, the report states.

Reynolds, according to the report, told police the incident occurred when his dog got loose and went to another man. He claimed that that man threatened to kill him, which caused him to punch him three times, the report states.

Police then spoke to another man. He claimed, according to the report, that he got into an argument with Reynolds over his dog getting loose multiple times. According to the report, he claimed that Reynolds came at him to fight; however, another man intervened and Reynolds punched him instead.

The man who was punched and a bus driver who observed the incident backed up the second story. The man punched was also treated by the Sandusky Fire Department for his injuries and released.

Reynolds, of Westlake, was arrested and charged with assault, a first-degree misdemeanor.
