Family arrested following fight at baseball park

SANDUSKY – A couple and their two children were arrested Tuesday evening following a fight at the AMVETS Baseball Park.

According to a report from the Sandusky Police Department, the incident started when police were called to the park for a report of a large fight. When police arrived, according to the report, they saw a large group of people heading to their vehicles and another group of several shirtless men who were yelling at each another and had aggressive postures. The park manager told police that the shirtless men were causing the fight, the report states.

According to the report, police went over to the group and attempted to stop the fight by yelling to the group multiple times that they would be arrested if they did not stop. One of the men, Maurice Armstrong, then continued by walking towards and screaming profanities at another man, the report states.

Police then attempted to place Armstrong under arrest; however, according to the report, he resisted by pulling away from officers. Once police were able to place Armstrong under arrest, the report states Sharlisa Taylor ran up to the arresting officer and pushed him on his left shoulder.

Taylor was then arrested; however, she also resisted and her children began to pull on her, the report states. Officers eventually were able to place Taylor and the two juveniles under arrest.

Armstrong, 42, of Sandusky, was charged with riot (M1), resisting arrest (M2), and disorderly conduct (M4). Taylor, 39, of Sandusky, was charged with retaliation (F3), assault on a police officer (F4), aggravated riot (F4), resisting arrest (M2), resisting arrest of another (M2), and disorderly conduct (MM). Both of the juveniles were charged with persistent disorderly conduct (M4), resisting arrest of another (M2), resisting arrest (M2), riot (M1).
