Richard Wahl

Richard “Rick” W. Wahl, 71, residing in Sandusky, passed away suddenly Monday evening, June 27, 2022 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

Rick was born on September 12, 1950 in Sandusky, OH to the late Richard “Dick” D. and Nancy J. (Uhl) Wahl.

Rick retired from the Erie County Maintenance Department after more than 20 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he also enjoyed volunteering for various activities. Rick was a Boy Scout leader of Troop 7 for many years at St. Mary’s. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. He enjoyed cooking for his family and camping with his grandchildren. He was especially supportive and loved attending of all his grandchildren’s sporting events, band concerts and school events.

Rick is survived by his wife, Arlene K. (Hill) Wahl. He is also survived by his children, Chad (Lisa) Wahl and Kari (Glenn) Fredericks; grandchildren, Amanda, Alex, Megan, Wednesday, Curtis and Owen; great-granddaughter, Annika; brother, Doug Wahl; nephews, Jake and Josh Wahl and his furry buddies, Scooter, Bernie and Charlie.

In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, James (Sue) Wahl.

Friends may call on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Father Zach Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
