Policing at Cedar Point to be transferred to the Sandusky Police Department

SANDUSKY – The Sandusky Police Department will be assuming all policing responsibilities from the Cedar Point Police Department, the City of Sandusky and Cedar Point announced Friday.

According to a joint press release, in 2019, Cedar Point began evaluating its security operation. This led to the partnership between Cedar Point and the City of Sandusky.

Under the partnership, the policing authorities and responsibilities of the Cedar Point Police Department will be fully transitioned into the Sandusky Police Department. The Cedar Point Police Department will focus solely on security operations at Cedar Point and its local affiliated properties.

The City of Sandusky and Cedar Point are currently evaluating how the Sandusky Police Department will fully police Cedar Point’s properties. The transition is expected to conclude in 2023.

According to the release, similar partnerships have been established in many other amusement parks, including Cedar Point’s sister park, Kings Island in Mason.
