Governor DeWine Gives Update on COVID-19 Vaccines in Ohio

At the Friday, December 4 Ohio Coronavirus Press Conference, Governor Mike DeWine shared dates when COVID-19 vaccines are expected in Ohio and how they will be distributed.

Governor DeWine said the expected date for the first COVID-19 vaccines to arrive from Pfizer in Ohio is December 15. Of those vaccines, 9,750 will go to hospitals and 88,725 will go to Walgreens and CVS for congregate care settings.

Governor DeWine then said that on December 22, a shipment of 201,000 vaccines from Moderna are anticipated. Of those vaccines, 98,000 will go to hospitals and 108,000 will go to Walgreens and CVS for congregate care settings. Also on December 22, another shipment is expected to come from Pfizer. The tentative number of vaccines in this shipment is 123,000. All of these will go to Walgreen and CVS for vaccination of those in congregate care settings. A few days later, Ohio is expected to get another 148,000 vaccines from Pfizer and 89,000 vaccines from Moderna.

Governor DeWine said that all dates are still subject to change and are not final.

Phase 1 of Ohio’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program

Governor DeWine showed what Phase 1 Ohio of COVID-19 Vaccination Program will look like. It says that vaccines will first go to healthcare workers and personnel who are involved in the care of COVID-19 patients, EMS responders, and vulnerable individuals who live together in close proximity and those who care for them.
