Man cited, hospitalized after he was hit by car on Cleveland Road

HURON – A man who police found to be intoxicated was cited and hospitalized after he was hit by a vehicle on Cleveland Road late Saturday night.

According to a report from the Huron Police Department, when police arrived at the intersection of Cleveland Road and Lake Erie Parkway, they found the 44-year-old Huron man sitting in the center of the roadway.

According to the report, the man told police that he was walking from Rye Beach Road Shell/Hy-Miler when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle claimed that he never saw the man until he struck the driver-side mirror of the vehicle, the report states.

Police reported smelling a strong odor of intoxicating beverages coming from the man who was hit. When asked if he had anything to drink, according to the report, the man told police that he had six tallboys.

The man was cited for public intoxication (MM). He was later transported to Firelands Hospital by the Huron Fire Department.
