Leonard Meola

Leonard “Cat” Meola, 88, of Huron, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2022 at Stein Hospice Care Center.

Leonard was born on August 12, 1933 in Huron to the late Anthony and Mary (Pucci) Meola. He was a 1951 graduate of Huron High School and later attended Ohio Northern University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree. For many years, Leonard worked on nuclear reactors at NASA. He eventually retired from Stowe Woodward in Sandusky, OH.

Leonard enjoyed reading, even from a very young age, and could often be found at the Huron Public Library with a book in hand. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Huron.

He is survived by his daughter, Sheri (Brad) Budd of Huron; son, Daniel (Melissa) Meola of Florida; grandchildren, Brandi and Evan Budd, Emily and Daniel Jr. Meola, and Allysa Barnett; sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Meola; and three nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Catherine Megyesi; brothers, Nicholas, David, and Joseph Meola; and nephew, David Meola.

A prayer service led by Fr. Jeff McBeth will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Meadow Green Memorial Park, 2602 Bogart Rd., Huron 44839.
