James Nesser

On Wednesday, December 22, 2021, James “Jim” H. Nesser, loving husband, father, son, brother and friend of so many passed away at the age 59 at Stein Hospice Care Center.

Jim was born on May 12, 1962 in Columbus, OH to James J. and Mary Kathryn (Cain) Nesser. On October 18, 1991, he married Barbara Geary and they raised two children, James Geary and Elizabeth Marie.

Jim graduated from Walnut Ridge High School in Columbus in 1980. He began working at a young age doing various odd jobs. Jim was a former member of the Columbus Power Squadron and a former manager of a Columbus nightclub. Following his management position, he attended and graduated from the American Marine Institute in 1989 in Daytona Beach, allowing him to follow his dreams of fixing boats on Lake Erie. Jim was known for his ability to build and repair almost anything, and he enjoyed helping people with their repairs and various projects. He was an avid cook and enjoyed making meals for his family. Jim was known for his quick wit and his ability to make people laugh.

Jim is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara J. (Geary) Nesser. He is also survived by his children, James (Roni) Geary and Elizabeth Nesser; parents, James and Mary Kathryn Nesser; three grandchildren; sister, Kathy; brother, Edward (Carolyn) Nesser and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Friends may call on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 10:00 am until the time of memorial services at 12:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Pastor Wally Gilbert will officiate. Please wear a mask while in attendance.
