Helen Teel

Helen Teel, age 93, of Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord on November 25, 2021 at Admiral’s Point Nursing Home in Huron, OH.

Helen was born in 1928 to John and Amber (Grayley) Mobley of Lincoln County, West Virginia. She was the second youngest of eight children.

After graduation from high school, she worked as a switchboard operator for the phone company in Charleston, WV. In 1947 she married, Sam Teel and two years later they became parents to their only child, Judy. In 1956 the family moved to the Sandusky area. Helen served as a nursery supervisor on the church board, and bereavement committee at the former Church of the Nazarene. The last 25 years she attended The Chapel. Her husband was co-owner of Central Glass and she would help in the office when needed, but she preferred being a full time wife and mother. In later years spoiling the grandchildren was her specialty. She loved her grandchildren and would do anything for them.

Helen enjoyed baking and cooking. Her coconut cream pie, homemade hot rolls and molasses cookies were the family’s favorite. She loved her little neighborhood and the kind people surrounding her. She enjoyed baking and sharing with them.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Judy Mularoni and companion Owen Knupke; grandchildren, Julie (Dan) Bath and Scott (Karrie) VonHeldt; great-granddaughters, Anaya VonHeldt, Allison (Daniel) Patterson; great-great- grandchildren, Hunter “Frankie” Scally and Scarlet Patterson; significant other of 17 years, Steve Marvicsin and his family; sister-in-law, Anna Virgina Mobley and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband, William “Sam” Teel in 2001; brothers, John and Ray ; sisters, Mary, Madeline, Loraine, Della and Virginia; Son-In-Law; Angelo Mularoni, and best friend of 58 years, Wilma Cooper.

Friends may call Friday, December 3, 2021 from 10:00AM until time of services at 11:00AM at Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave. Sandusky, OH 44870. Reverend Mark Cooper will be officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park.
