More than $18,000 spent by 2021 Huron political candidates, records show

HURON – Huron Board of Education candidates and Huron Township Board of Trustees candidates have spent more than $18,000 of donations or of their own money towards getting your vote, records obtained by Huron Insider via a public records request show.

The records are of campaign finance reports that were turned on October 21 by candidates for Huron Township Trustee and Huron School Board.

Board of Education candidates, John Adams, Ryan Hathaway, and Elizabeth Laffay; and Board of Trustees candidates Ed Enderle and Edward Wimmers all turned in campaign finance reports. All of the other candidates signed waivers so they didn’t have to turn in reports. In the waivers, the candidates agreed not to spend more than $2,000 on their campaign, not to have more then $2,000 in donations, and not accept more than a $100 donation from a single induvial.

Ed Enderle

Enderle has spend $7,021.31 of his own money on his campaign. He did not take donations. The $7,021.31 was spent on signs, door tags, billboard advertising, and magazine advertising.

Edward Wimmer

$4,118.12 have been spent by Wimmer’s campaign. Wimmer used $3,400 of his own money on his campaign. He has received $1,275 in donations. The largest donation was $300. The $4,118.12 were spent on yard signs, car magnets, billboards, and bank fees.

John Adams

$4,615.78 have been spent by Adam’s campaign. Adams used $1,500 of his own money on his campaign; however, he put the $1,500 in his campaign as a loan. He has received $3,670 in donations. The largest donation was $1,000. The $4,615 was spent on truck signs, yard signs, car magnets, banners, a flier ad, a table rental, and checks.

Ryan Hathaway

$1,699.46 have been spent by Hathaway’s campaign. Hathaway used $140 of his own money on his campaign. He has received $2,806.80 in donations. The largest donation was $250. The $1,699.46 was spent on door fliers, a truck rental, and a tent rental.

Elizabeth Laffay

$907.47 have been spent by Laffay’s campaign. Laffay used $200 of her own money on her campaign. She has received $2,890 in donations. The largest donation was $250. The $907.47 was spent on a truck sign frame, promotional literature, table rentals, one-third of a tent rental, campaign t-shirts, and checks.
