Local highway construction for the week of October 25

North Central Ohio – Here is a look at construction projects that are anticipated to impact highways in Erie, Huron, Lorain, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Seneca counties on the week of October 25.

Erie County

U.S. Route 6, at the bridge over the Vermilion River, is closed for 45 days for expansion joint replacements and concrete repairs. At least one sidewalk will remain open to pedestrian traffic all times, except for two, non-consecutive 1-2 day closures that are allowed as needed to complete necessary work. The sidewalk closure notices will be sent out at a later date. The detour route for eastbound motorists is U.S. 6 to SR 60, south on SR 60 to SR 2, east on SR 2 to SR 58, north on SR 58 to U.S. 6, and reverse for westbound motorists. Estimated completion: Wednesday, December 1, 2021

U.S. 6, from the western Vermilion Corporation limits to the Lorain County line, and State Route 60, from the southern Vermilion Corporation limits to U.S. 6, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers on SR 60. Lane closures will be in place on U.S. 6 with one lane of traffic maintained in each direction. Estimated completion: May 2022

State Route 99, south of Strecker Road, will have single lane closures for a culvert replacement project. Traffic will be maintained using temporary traffic signals or flaggers. Estimated completion: October 2021

SR 113, between McIntyre Road and SR 61, is closed for 45 days for resurfacing work. The detour route for eastbound motorists will be SR 113 to U.S. 250, north on U.S. 250 to SR 13, north on SR 13 to SR 2, east on SR 2 to SR 61, south on SR 61 to SR 113, and reverse for westbound motorists. Estimated completion of Phase 2: Friday, October 29, 2021

SR 61 from just west of Collins Road to Ceylon Road – where SR 61 and SR 113 overlap – will close Monday, October 25 for 19 days for pavement edge reconstruction and repairs. The detour route for northbound motorists will be SR 61 to SR 601, north on SR 601 to SR 113, west on SR 113 to U.S. 250, north on U.S. 250 to SR 13, north on SR 13 to SR 2, east on SR 2 to SR 61, and reverse for southbound motorists. Estimated completion of Phase 3: Friday, November 12, 2021

U.S. 250, from Perkins Avenue to E. Bogart Road, will have crews striping the roadway. This is a rolling operation, so traffic will be maintained in all lanes. However, motorists are advised to drive with caution in the area and pay attention when approaching the crews. Estimated completion: October 2021

Huron County

The intersection of U.S. 20 and State Route 601 is closed for an intersection improvement project that will convert the current intersection into a single-lane roundabout. Estimated completion: November 2021

Lorain County

State Route 2, from just east of Baumhart Road to just east of SR 58, will have daily and nightly single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained in 11’ lanes at all times. Estimated completion: November 2021

U.S. 20, between Stoney Ridge Road and Lear Nagle Road, will have periodic single lane closures throughout the project limits. Crews continue cleanup and corrective work throughout. Estimated completion: November 2021

U.S. 20, from SR 57 to SR 301, will have single lane closures for pavement repairs. Traffic will be maintained at all times. Estimated completion: November 2021

I-90 eastbound and westbound at the structures over the railroad tracks, between French Creek Road and SR 611 (Colorado Avenue), will have lane closures for a bridge reconstruction project. Traffic will be maintained with barrels and portable concrete barriers. Traffic will be maintained in 11’ lanes eastbound and westbound. Speed limits will be established at 55 mph for areas with barrier wall and 50 mph for areas with barrels when workers are present. Estimated completion: July 2022

The intersection of State Route 113 and Baumhart Raod is closed for an intersection improvement project that will convert the current signalized intersection to a single-lane roundabout. The detour route for eastbound motorists on SR 113 will be SR 113 east to SR 60, north on SR 60 to SR 2, east on SR 2 to SR 58, south on SR 58 to SR 113, and reverse for westbound motorists. The detour route for northbound motorists on Baumhart Road will be Baumhart Road north on SR 511, east on SR 511 to SR 58, north on SR 58 to SR 2, west on SR 2 to Baumhart Road, and reverse for southbound motorists. Estimated completion: November 2021

State Route 254, from Avon Commons drive to just east of Nagle Road, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Crews continue night work for milling, pavement repairs, and linear grading. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: November 2021

State Route 301 from the SR 611 intersection to Richelieu Avenue will have single lane closures for a crack sealing project. One lane of traffic will be maintained using arrow boards and cones. The estimated completion date is October.

I-480 eastbound and westbound, between the Ohio Turnpike (I-80) and Lorain Road, will have daily and nightly lane closures for a resurfacing project. Estimated completion: November 2021

State Route 611 from Schueller Boulevard to just west of the SR 301 will have single lane closures for a crack sealing project. One lane of traffic will be maintained using arrow boards and cones. The estimated completion date is October.

Ottawa County

State Route 105 between South Elliston-Trowbridge Road and South Graytown Road in Harris Township may experience lane restrictions for finish work through November.

Sandusky County

U.S. Route 6 between CR 232 and TR 240 in Fremont is closed for a bridge replacement. The estimated completion date is September 30. The detour is US 20 to SR 412 to SR 510.

U.S. Route 20 between County Road 32 and County Road 117 in Woodville is reduced to one lane in each direction at the railroad tracks due to pavement conditions.

State Route 53 between Schwartz Rd. and the Ohio Turnpike in Fremont may experience lane restrictions for Turnpike work. The estimated completion date is September.

State Route 300 north of SR 600 in Gibsonburg is closed for work performed by the Village of Gibsonburg. The detour is US 6 to US 23 to US 20.

Seneca County

U.S. Route 23 between Wyandot County and Fostoria will experience lane restrictions for resurfacing and guardrail. The project is expected to be completed in October.

U.S. Route 224 at State Route 53 in Tiffin will experience lane restrictions for finish work.

State Route 53 between Highland Park Estates and Cottage Dr in Tiffin will experience lane restrictions nightly The project is expected to be completed in September.

State Route 67 south of Township Road 1066 in Melmore will experience lane restrictions for installation of Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) and related sidewalk and pavement improvements near the Methodist Church through November.

State Route 100/State Route 231 between Madison Street and Perry Street in Tiffin will be closed for a project administered by the City of Tiffin beginning Tuesday, October 5 through October. The detour is US 224 to SR 53 to SR 18.

State Route 100 between County Road 58 and Riverside Drive in Tiffin will experience lane restrictions for resurfacing. The project is expected to be completed in November.

SR 100 between Tiffin and US 224 will be closed for resurfacing beginning on Monday, October 18. Access maintained for local traffic only.

State Route 101 between SR 778 and SR 19 in Republic will be closed for two culvert replacements beginning Thursday, September 30. The estimated completion date is early November. The detour is SR 778 to SR 19 to SR 101.
