Gerald Bower

Gerald L. (Butch) Bower, 76, of Norwalk, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 at home after a short illness.

Butch was born in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up in Clarksburg, West Virginia. He graduated from Victory High School in Clarksburg class of 1966. Gerald lived most of his adult life in the Huron area and spent the last few years in Norwalk. Gerald retired from Sandusky Athol (formerly Sandusky Vinyl Products) in 2003. He was a member of the Light House Assembly of God Church in Huron

Gerald is survived by wife of 18 years, Barbara (McNab) of Norwalk; son, Scott (Connie) of Norwalk; daughter, Valerie of Huron; stepson, Chris Linden (Ida) of Alameda, California; step-grandchildren, Angelina Linden and Harrison Linden; and brothers, Bruce Barker of Clarksburg, West Virginia, and Gary (Marilyn) Barker of Hernando, Florida.

Gerald was preceded in death by his mother, Violet Barker, and stepdaughter, Jamie Palos.

Butch suffered with Alzheimer’s Disease in the most recent years of his life. Prior to this onset, Butch loved spending time with family. He spent most weekends visiting his relatives in the area. Butch loved to ride his bicycle and took Valerie on many bike rides. He was a great storyteller and told many stories of his adventures growing up in the holler in Clarksburg. He enjoyed going to car dealerships to look at cars and talk to the salespeople while enjoying donuts and coffee. He liked to get out of the house and go to flea markets. Butch loved his westerns and watching classic TV shows.

Services will be held at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main St., Huron, on Tuesday, October 26 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Cemetery, Huron.

The family wishes that any memorial donation be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870, in Gerald’s name. He was under the great care of Stein Hospice in his final days.
