Two hospitalized following single-vehicle accident in Sandusky County; driver charged

FREMONT – A man is charged with OVI after he allegedly caused single-vehicle accident in Sandusky Township on Thursday night that left his two passengers hospitalized, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The driver, Darrion Walker, 23, of Norman, OK, was traveling south on Fangboner Road, north of US 20. The vehicle allegedly traveled off of the roadway, struck a ditch, and overturned.

Walker sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the scene. He was subsequently arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

The two passengers Walker was traveling with were both injured during the incident. One passenger was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo by Mercy Life Flight with serious injuries. The second passenger was transported to Fremont Memorial Hospital by Sandusky County EMS with serious injuries.

The crash also caused power lines to fall across the US 20 Bypass.

The incident is still pending further investigation.

The Sandusky County Sheriff’s Department, Sandusky County EMS, Mercy Life Flight, ODOT, and Madison’s Towing assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol with the crash.
