Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper shot; suspect arrested after manhunt

FINDLAY – A man is still at large after he allegedly shot an Ohio State Highway Patrol officer during a traffic stop on Interstate 75 Wednesday night.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, on October 6 at approximately 11:05 PM, Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Josef Brobst conducted a traffic stop on a 2016 Chevrolet Black Suburban for a speed violation, on Interstate 75 near mile post 160 in Hancock County. During the traffic stop, the driver, Robert Tramaine Hathorn, got into a struggle with Trooper Brobst. During the struggle, the Trooper Brobst’s service weapon was fired and shot him. Hathorn then fled the scene.

Trooper Brobst was transported to Blanchard Valley Hospital. He currently has has serious, non-life threatening injuries.

The service weapon is in the possession of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Hathorn is still at large. Hathorn is 42-years-old, 5’10″, is 225lbs, is black, and has brown eyes.

Hathorn’s vehicle was recovered behind a business on County Road 140 in Hancock County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol has issued a Blue Alert for Robert Tramaine Hathorn. A photo of him can be found below.

UPDATE 2:30PM

Hathorn has been arrested.
