St. Paul High School holds mock crash

NORWALK – The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Norwalk Police Department, Norwalk Fire Department, and North Central EMS were at St. Paul High School to put on a mock crash Thursday.

Students used makeup and fake blood to make the crash seem real. Firemen used hydraulic jaws to cut the door off a vehicle in order to free a passenger. North Central EMS personnel then treated the two passengers and loaded them in the ambulance.

In the scenario, two students were killed in the crash, and the student who caused the crash was arrested for OVI and taken away in handcuffs.

St. Paul students Jordan Fulton, Maddie Jaworski, and Karlie Rudolph organized the event. Other students who participated
in the scenario included Zach Pocos, Will Stieber, and Josie Skinn. White’s Towing loaned two crashed vehicles for the event.

From 2016 to 2021, there were 913 teen-related crashes in Huron County. Those crashes resulted in five deaths.
