CDC recommends Erie County mask up

SILVER SPRING, Maryland – Individuals in Erie County, Ohio are now being recommend to wear masks indoors by the CDC. The recommendation is being made due to Erie County having “substantial” community transmission of COVID-19.

This week, the CDC released a map of community transmission in each county in the United States. Each county is given a level of low, moderate, substantial, or high. Individuals in counties with substantial or high community transmission are recommended to mask up indoors.

According to the CDC, in the past week, there have been 45 new cases of COVID-19 cases in Erie County. That is a 309.09% increase in cases, compared to the previous week. In this week, 545 people were tested for COVID-19. That is a 1.3% increase over the previous week.

The CDC also states that 36,552 or 49.2% people in Erie County have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. To register to get a COVID-19 vaccine in Ohio, go to gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov.
