Ohio State Highway Patrol reports drop in traffic fatalities during the 2021 July Fourth weekend

COLUMBUS – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reporting that 16 people lost their lives in 15 traffic crashes on Ohio roadways between Friday, July 2 and Monday, July 5. This is a drop from the 2020 July Fourth weekend, when there were 25 traffic fatalities in 24 crashes on Ohio roadways.

Also during the weekend, state troopers made 536 arrests for impaired driving and 368 for drug-related charges. Troopers also responded to 534 crashes and made more than 40,000 traffic contacts in total, which included providing assistance to more than 2,761 motorists.
