Ohio State Highway Patrol reports drop in traffic fatalities during the 2021 Memorial Day weekend

COLUMBUS – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reporting nine deaths on Ohio roadways during the 2021 Memorial Day weekend. This is a 49% from the 2020 Memorial Day weekend, when there were 20 traffic fatalities on Ohio roadways.

Also during the weekend, state troopers made 25,658 traffic enforcement contacts. Those contacts led to 549 OVI arrests, 377 drug arrests, and 3,720 safety belt citations. The Patrol also made 13,448 non-enforcement contacts, including 2,523 motorist assists.
