Richard Parsons

Richard N. Parsons, 85, of Vermilion, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center, Lorain.

He was born Oct 24, 1935 in Cleveland and was a lifelong resident of Vermilion. Richard graduated from Vermilion High School. He was a US Navy Veteran. While serving on the USS Intrepid, on the flight deck, Richard especially enjoyed the Mediterranean tour. He worked as a marine engine mechanic for several years. Richard then owned and operated, along with his wife and children, Parsons M&I and Fire Equipment in Vermilion from 1973 to 2001.

He was a Volunteer Fireman (Lieutenant) for Vermilion for 18 years. Richard was a member of the Ely Masonic Lodge of Vermilion and a lifelong member of Vermilion Fish and Game. He belonged to the Erie Wyndott Muzzle Loaders, serving as treasurer for several years. He was a skilled marksman and enjoyed Air Pistol Shooting at Camp Perry. He enjoyed building model boats, planes, and steam engines as hobbies.

Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Hume), married to for 61 years; three daughters, Lori (John) McDonald of Amherst, Barbara (John) Evansco of Sheffield Lake, and Julie (Gary) Miller of Lorain; a son, Eric (Mike) Parsons of Strongsville; 6 grandchildren: Shannon, Jessie, Ryan, Mike, Jake and Melissa; and 2 great-grandchildren, Colton and Evelyn.

The family will have a private funeral service. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
