Fire destroys historic Huron house

HURON – A 143-year-old house was destroyed by flames Monday night.

First responders responded to the house, which is located at 304 Center Street, after receiving a call for a structure fire at 10:49PM Monday, according to Huron Police Chief Terry Graham. Fire crews worked for hours throughout the night to battle the flames.

By morning, after fire crews left, the damage to the house could be seen by passersby. Parts of the roof could be seen to have collapsed from the fire.

A portion of Cleveland Road also remained closed for most of Tuesday.

By Tuesday night, a majority of the nearly century and a half-year-old house had been demolished.

Huron Insider has reached out to the Huron Fire Department for more information on the fire.
