SANDUSKY – An employee at the Walmart on Milan Road has been charged after he allegedly assaulted a customer in the parking lot of the store.

According to a report from the Perkins Township Police Department, an officer responded to the store on the afternoon of January 5 for a report of an employee assaulting a customer.

According to the report, the officer spoke to the complainant and his grandmother, who claimed that the incident started when there were no employees to assist them at the customer service desk and after waiting nearly a half hour, they began to search for someone to help them. They claimed that after they did find an employee, an argument began between them, with the complainant calling the employee a “bitch,” the report states.

According to the report, the two said the employee then instructed them to leave the store and they complied; however, the employee followed them out of the store. The complaint told police he called the employee a “bitch” again, the employee asked him what he said, and the complainant responded “a bitch.”

The complainant told the officer that the employee then grabbed him by the front of his sweatshirt, began pushing him around the area, shoved him into a cardboard post, and then let go of him, the report states.

The officer then went inside the Walmart and reviewed surveillance video, which allegedly supported the complainant’s claims.

According to the report, the employee Andrew Johnson, 25, of Sandusky, admitted to the assault. He was charged with one count of assault, a first-degree misdemeanor.
