Woman charged after her 10-month-old child reportedly tests positive for marijuana

SANDUSKY – A 22-year-old woman was charged with endangering children on December 26 after her 10-month-old reportedly tested positive for marijuana.

According to a report from the Sandusky Police Department, officers responded to Firelands Regional Medical Center for an endangering children complaint. When officers arrived, according to the report, an Erie County Children Services representative told them that a 10 month old child tested positive for marijuana or THC after the child was brought to the hospital.

According to the report, when police spoke to the child’s mother, Felicity Lane, of Sandusky, she claimed that she brought the child to the hospital after she noticed her being drowsy and lethargic. Lane, according to the report, first claimed she believed her child may have picked up a Melatonin tablet or another type of medication off the floor and ate it.

Lane admitted to smoking marijuana, but claimed that she goes outside to ensure she does not smoke around her children, the report states. She first claimed, according to the report, she does not know how her child came into contact with marijuana, but later said that she believed a marijuana roach may have stuck to her shoe and her child could have picked it up and ingested it.

Due to Lane allegedly creating a substantial risk to her child’s health, she was charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of endangering children. Children Services placed the child with a pre-determined relative, until Lane could meet with the agency and determine a plan.
