Sam’s Club employee accused of helping father steal hot tubs, karaoke machine

SANDUSKY – A Sam’s Club employee and her father were both arrested and charged with felonies after they allegedly stole several items, including a karaoke machine and two hot tubs, from the store.

According to a report from the Perkins Township Police Department, on November 18, police responded to the store for an employee theft. When they arrived, according to the report, the store manager and loss prevention officer claimed that employee, Kimberlee Ysaguirre, 41, of Clyde, had stolen several items.

According to the report, the police were shown security camera footage from November 11, which showed Terry DeCoursey, 62, of Clyde, select an inflatable hot tub and a karaoke machine and then at the store exit, Ysaguirre pretends to scan his phone and allows him to leave. The footage then shows a woman, later identified as DeCoursey’s wife, enter the store, select a cart full of groceries, and leave the store with Ysaguirre not scanning a receipt. DeCoursey then re-enters the store and takes another hot tub, with Ysaguirre again only pretending to scan his phone. DeCoursey then puts the inflatable hot tub in the back of a sedan that Ysaguirre left work in, the report states.

The store manager and loss prevention officer told police that Ysaguirre is an exit greeter and her job is to check customer’s receipts, which can be on a phone, the report states.

They claimed that before police arrived, Ysaguirre admitted to the theft and said her and her father had stolen from the store in similar ways in the prior months, the report states. They claimed that Ysaguirre left the store after they told her police were being called.

DeCoursey and Ysaguirre were both charged with a fifth-degree count of theft. DeCoursey’s wife was not charged due to management not being able to determine the value of items she allegedly stole. The Clyde Police Department later arrested DeCoursey and Ysaguirre and they were transferred to the Erie County Jail.
