Local highway construction for the week of November 21

Here is a look at construction projects that are anticipated by the Ohio Department of Transportation to impact highways in Erie, Huron, Lorain, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Seneca counties on the week of November 21.

Erie County

There are currently no active construction projects in Erie County that would impact traffic.

Huron County

There are currently no active construction projects in Huron County that would impact traffic.

Lorain County

U.S. 6 (Lake Road), at Lafayette Road and Elm Street, is closed for culvert repairs. The detour route for westbound motorists is U.S. 6 to SR 301, south on SR 301 to SR 611, west on SR 611 to SR 57, north on SR 57 to U.S. 6, and reverse for eastbound motorists. Estimated completion: Thursday, December 1, 2022

State Route 57 northbound and southbound, between SR 82 and SR 10/U.S. 20, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained in the adjacent lane. An 11’ lane width will be maintained. Estimated completion of entire project: November 2022

State Route 83, from SR 57 (Grafton Eastern Road) to the city of North Ridgeville’s southern corporation limits, will have lane closures for a resurfacing project. Estimated completion: November 2022

I-90 eastbound and westbound at the structures over the railroad tracks, between French Creek Road and SR 611 (Colorado Avenue), will have lane closures for a bridge reconstruction project. Traffic will be maintained with barrels and portable concrete barriers. Traffic will be maintained in 11’ lanes eastbound and westbound. Speed limits will be established at 55 mph for areas with barrier wall and 50 mph for areas with barrels when workers are present. Estimated completion: May 2023

Ottawa County

State Route 163, at North Shore Blvd. and Englebeck Rd., Marblehead, will be reduced to one lane with traffic maintained via a temporary traffic signal for construction of a roundabout.

North Shore Blvd. and Englebeck Rd. are closed at SR 163 through November 15. Detour for North Shore Blvd.: Erie Beach Road to SR 163. Detour for Englebeck Rd.: Bayshore to South Bayshore back to SR 163.

Sandusky County

U.S. Route 6/SR 53, U.S. Route 20, and E. State St., may experience lane restrictions for overhead sign installation through mid-December. Short-term closures lasting up to 15 minutes are possible during working hours. Project completion deadline is March 31, 2023, so there may be flexibility in when the contractor returns to install the remaining overhead signs.

Seneca County

U.S. Route 224 at State Route 587, New Riegel, is open following roundabout. Lane restrictions may be necessary for finish work. Please use caution as drivers adjust to the new configuration.
