Woman allegedly found with cocaine while being arrested for OVI

SANDUSKY – A Michigan woman was arrested and charged with two felonies after she was allegedly found with cocaine while being arrested for OVI on Monday night.

According to a report from the Sandusky Police Department, on West Washington Street, an officer began to notice a gold Chevrolet Blazer that was quickly increasing and decreasing speed and swerving between lanes. Police pulled the vehicle at the Tiffin Avenue and West Adams Street intersection. According to the report, while the vehicle was pulling over, it came to the shoulder of the road, continued slowly over a grassy area, and stopped in a side parking spot with its driver side tires in the main roadway.

According to the report, when police spoke to the driver, Michelle Boodt, 48, of Decatur, MI, she denied drinking any alcohol recently and said that she was swerving lanes because she was trying to her phone’s navigation system. The report states that Boodt had dilated pupils and bloodshot, watery eyes. It also states that she was talking fast, moving fast, and appeared jittery.

Boodt agreed to take field sobriety tests, the report states. Before taking the tests, according to the report, when she was asked again if she had anything to drink, Boodt said she had one fireball shot about an hour prior. She was given four tests and showed signs of intoxication in all of them, the report states.

Boodt was then arrested for OVI. While officers were searching her, according to the report, another officer noticed a small tan purse directly behind the tire of one of their cruisers. The report states that inside the purse was a metal smoking device, which is used to smoke crack cocaine. According to the report, the pipe was found to have suspected crack cocaine residue inside it. Boodt denied that the purse belonged to her; however, dashcam footage showed her throwing it from underneath her coat, the report states.

At the jail, according to the report, Boodt again said that she had one shot of fireball, but also admitted to smoking marijuana.

Boodt was charged with the following:

  • OVI, a first-degree misdemeanor
  • Marked lane violation, a minor misdemeanor
  • Open container in a motor vehicle, a minor misdemeanor
  • Possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor
  • Tampering With evidence, a third-degree misdemeanor
