J.L. Farris

J.L. Farris, 96, residing in Monroeville, passed away Tuesday evening, August 9, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

J.L. was born on May 26, 1926 in Union County, TN to the late Alvin and Sarah (Clouse) Farris.

J.L. was a Veteran of the Army who proudly served his country during World War II, for which he received the EAME Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal and a Victory Medal. In September 1948 he married his childhood sweetheart, Martha. J.L. had worked as a coal miner in Kentucky and Tennessee, before moving to Michigan to work at the Ford Motor Company. He eventually moved to Ohio and continued working at Ford. He retired in 1982 after 30 years of service. J.L. was a member of the Milan Baptist Church and the Sandusky VFW. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending his time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

J.L. is survived by his son, Jay E. Farris of Monroeville; daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” (Steve Christian) Kuhl of Milan; daughter-in-law, Diane Farris of Norwalk; grandchildren, Candice (Elijah) White of SC, Jeanne (Kevin) Gahagan of Norwalk and Stephanie Pack of Milan; great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Connor, Aiden, Ethan, Hailey, Gavin, Coen and Anastasia; sister, Maudie Marie Clark of FL; brother, Sam (Barbara) Farris of KY and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, J.L. is preceded in death by wife, Martha Elizabeth (Parker) Farris on June 27, 2011; son, Ronnie Lee Farris; sister, Dolly Dupriest and brothers, Luther and Junior Farris.

Friends may call on Monday, August 15, 2022 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory Milan Chapel, 1 S. Main St., Milan. Rev Rod Hollen will officiate. Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
