Linda Kowalski

Linda Kay (Montgomery) Kowalski, 73, peacefully departed her earthly body to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior and reunited with her beloved husband and mother on Sunday, August 7, 2022. Linda endured dementia over the past ten years while being cared for by her devoted husband until his passing in October 2021. With the exceptional services of Stein Hospice, Linda’s children were able to continue her medical care until her passing.

Linda had an infectious smile and a vivacious personality that would light up a room. She was known by those who loved her as a kind-hearted, generous, quirky, fun-loving, and compassionate woman, who loved God and her family.

Born to Edward and Minnie (Lombardo) Montgomery on November 22, 1948, in Sandusky, she was raised on East Parish Street with her two older brothers, a graduate of the class of 1967 from Sandusky High School, and employed at George Saxton and Associates.

In 1968, Linda met the love of her life, Tony Kowalski, and they were married at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on August 31, 1968, and then honeymooned at Niagara Falls. The newlyweds began their life together in a trailer in Bowling Green, while Tony finished his studies and Linda worked at the BGSU Administrative Building. They welcomed their first child, Brian Anthony in January 1970 and continued to grow their family over the next ten years with five daughters.

Early in their marriage, both Tony and Linda made a personal commitment to follow Jesus. Together they shared their unwavering faith and the Gospel with others; and most importantly, they instilled their devotion to Christ in the lives of their children.

Linda was a gifted pianist, enjoyed painting ceramics, and sold Shaklee as a distributor for 40 years while working alongside her husband as a landlord. Linda would often be found in the kitchen either cooking or baking. Spurred by her love to serve others she baked cookies, cakes, pies, and nut rolls to share with family and friends.

As a stay-at-home mother of six children, Linda devoted her life to her husband and raising her family. She will forever be missed by her children, Brian (Christine) Kowalski, Tiffany Kowalski, Holly (John) Graham, Kristi (Raymond) Schaefer, Lisa (Pete) Sokoloski and Leslie (Richard) Speer. She enjoyed the blessings of watching her family grow with her nineteen grandchildren, Matthew and Lindsey Kowalski, Andrew, Noelle, Bethany, Aliyah, Selah, Melanie and Levi Graham, Cecily (Zander) Brown, Christian (Kelley) and Luke Schaefer, Claire Sokoloski, Steven, Jillian, Alexander, Zachary, Kyle and Ryker Speer. Linda will also be missed by her brothers, William (Cindy) and Edward (Barb) Montgomery, her brother-in-law, David Kowalski and all her nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony “Tony” Kowalski of 53 years and her parents Edward and Minnie (Lombardo) Montgomery.

A time of visitation honoring both Tony and Linda Kowalski will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky, OH, 44870. A celebration of life service will be officiated at 7:00 p.m., by Pastor Chad Gilligan of Calvary Church, Maumee.

In memory and honor of Linda Kowalski, a memorial contribution may be made to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
