Huron Schools to Return Five Days In-Person

At the November 11 Special Huron Board of Education Meeting, the board unanimously voted to approve a plan where students will return to school five-days in-person.

In the plan that was approved, students will have the option of attending school in-person or attending virtually via Zoom. Parts of the plan will start in late November. November 23, 24, and 30 will be training days for staff. Students will be trained on December 1 (Virtual Students) and December 2 (In-Person Students). The plan will fully take effect on December 3. Parents will have to contact their student’s principal to say if they will be going virtual.

There was discussion from Board Members Scott Slocum, Jody Mast, and John Jones about the timing of the decision. Reasons for waiting were that Governor Mike DeWine is holding a press conference tonight at 5:30PM, COVID-19 cases are rising in Erie County and Ohio, and COVID-19 cases are expected to rise after the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Superintendent Dennis Muratori and Board Vice President Paul Ward said that the plan can still be changed at a special meeting or the November Board Meeting.
