4 killed in 50-vehicle crash on Turnpike

ERIE COUNTY – Four fatalities and multiple injuries have been reported after approximately 50 vehicles were involved in crashes on the Ohio Turnpike.

The crashes occurred on Friday afternoon between State Route 53 and State Route 4 near the Erie County and Sandusky County line.

After being closed for most of the rest of Thursday and most of Friday, both lanes of the Turnpike have reopened.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing to update the number of fatalities as a result of the crash. This article will continue to be updated as we receive new information.
