World Atlas recognizes two Lorain County cities as among Ohio's top small towns

Cleveland, Ohio – Lorain County earned two spots on World Atlas’ list of the “12 nicest small towns in Ohio,” which recognizes each town’s distinct character, scenic charm, and cultural significance.

Vermilion has received praise for its tranquil lakefront beauty, low tourist traffic, and inviting outdoor spaces. The Vermilion River Reservation, a scenic oasis with wooded hiking trails, serene ponds, and peaceful riverside views, is one of the town’s most notable features. But the town’s Main Street Beach truly steals the show.

“Vacationers can access a sandy 300-foot shoreline at Main Street Beach and make the most of walking, swimming, sunbathing, sand castle building and birdwatching opportunities,” according to the World Atlas rankings.

Meanwhile, Oberlin is known for its vibrant arts scene and distinct small-town charm. Anchored by the prestigious Oberlin College, the town provides a rich cultural environment. Visitors and locals alike can take a stroll through the Oberlin Farmers Market, shop for local treasures at Main Street Antiques, or immerse themselves in the artistic riches of the Allen Memorial Art Museum, which houses a collection of 15,000 works.

The list includes ten other Ohio cities: Portsmouth, Sandusky, Tipp City, Chagrin Falls, Medina, Granville, Findlay, Bellefontaine, Kent, and Logan.
