Westlake Police employ several PIT techniques to stop a lady with multiple warrants

Cleveland, Ohio – Westlake Police attempted a routine traffic stop on I-90 westbound, but the driver refused to pull over, resulting in a high-speed chase.

When police ran the license plate of the fleeing car, they discovered that the female owner had several arrest warrants, including one for felony theft in Lorain County.

Newly released police dash camera and body camera footage shows the dramatic moments when officers used a special PIT maneuver not once, but twice, during the September 7 traffic stop. Patrol officers also used stop sticks to flatten the suspect’s tires, eventually bringing the vehicle to a halt.

As police draw their guns on the female driver, they tell her to put down her cell phone and purse. But she just keeps talking on her phone.

When the suspect finally decides to follow the officer’s orders, you can hear her become emotional, presumably realizing the gravity of the situation.

Through tears, she tells officers, “Be careful. “I am pregnant.”

The 39-year-old Westlake woman, whose name has not been released, is charged with felony fleeing, driving while suspended, and multiple traffic violations. She was turned over to Lorain County Sheriff deputies.
