North Alabama will experience warm and muggy conditions tonight, with low stratus clouds redeveloping around midnight and the possibility of patchy fog just before sunrise on Tuesday. Overnight temperatures will remain between 70 and 74 degrees, keeping the air humid and sticky into the morning.
The National Weather Service in Huntsville reports that skies will range from partly cloudy to mostly cloudy overnight, with the greatest fog potential in low-lying and rural areas. Drivers heading out early Tuesday morning should be prepared for reduced visibility, especially along bridges, valleys, and river crossings.
The cloud cover will help trap warmth and moisture, preventing temperatures from dropping significantly. Residents are advised to allow extra time for the Tuesday morning commute, use low-beam headlights in foggy areas, and maintain safe following distances.
The fog is expected to lift by mid-morning, but a similar pattern of warm, cloudy nights and patchy early fog may continue into midweek.
