Police in Washington, D.C., are investigating two incidents in which two teenagers were stabbed and another was shot while attending a Pride Month event nearby.

According to The Washington Post, ABC affiliate 7 News, and FOX 5 DC, two boys, ages 15 and 16, were stabbed during a fight that erupted in the city’s Dupont Circle neighborhood around 7 p.m. local time on Saturday, June 7.

Police told the Post in a statement that the fight occurred between “groups of juveniles” in a park, but they have not revealed what sparked the fight. A witness told the outlet that the victims appeared to be receiving treatment just east of the park on Massachusetts Avenue NW.

According to D.C. police, the victims were conscious and breathing when medics transported them to area hospitals from the incident scene, Dupont Circle Park. Their injuries were not deemed life threatening.

Later, around 7:50 p.m., after officers had cleared the park of the stabbing, a shooting occurred just south of the park. Police told the Post that one man was shot in the foot. He was conscious, breathing, and is expected to live.

According to the Post, police did not say whether the man was present when the park was cleared following the stabbing.

According to the Post, no arrests had been reported as of June 7, and officials could not confirm whether the incidents were related to the nearby WorldPride D.C. parade festivities.

According to Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officials, the Pride parade concluded around 7:30 p.m., and crowds were directed to leave the park following both incidents.

FOX 5 reported that the nearby Dupont Circle Metro Station was closed during the investigation. The station later reopened at 10 p.m.

According to the outlets, Dupont Circle Park is a popular spot for Pride parade attendees to congregate after the parade. According to 7 News, the park had been closed prior to the event, but the D.C. mayor’s office and the National Park Service agreed to remove the barricades during the festival.

On June 7, D.C. Councilmember Brooke Pinto spoke out about the shootings and stabbings, calling them “absolutely unacceptable.”

“Dupont Circle has been closed following several stabbings and a shooting. “This is completely unacceptable,” she wrote on X. “Please stay safe and if you are at the circle, time to leave.”

The MPD did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for additional information on Sunday, June 8.
