Two suspects were apprehended after a police chase in Ohio

OHIO — According to the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, two people were arrested on Thursday following a police chase in Elyria.

Deputies reported stopping a vehicle at 1:06 p.m. near Warden Avenue and Adams Street. As the deputy approached the car, the driver, Travone Devonte Lee Edwards of Lorain, allegedly drove away.

According to deputies, Edwards stopped at a home on Cambridge Avenue and fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended.

He is facing several charges, including failure to comply, weapons under disability, tampering with evidence, resisting arrest, obstructing official business, failure to identify, and intimidation. Authorities also stated that Edwards has outstanding warrants from Lorain and Westlake police.

The passenger, Grace Stephenson of Lorain, was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence. Deputies believe a loaded firearm was thrown from the vehicle during the chase. K9 Zoar later found the weapon.

Ammunition for the gun, as well as items suspected of being used for narcotics, were recovered from the vehicle.

Both Edwards and Stephenson were transported to the Lorain County Jail.
