Two injured in Jackson Township crash near McClure and Reservoir roads

Jackson Township, Allen County, Ohio – Two people were hospitalized Tuesday morning after a two-vehicle crash in eastern Allen County.

The crash occurred shortly before 9 a.m. at the intersection of McClure and Reservoir roads. According to troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lima Post, Dru Baker, 22, of Benton Ridge, was driving a car south on McClure Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a box truck heading west on Reservoir Road. The truck was driven by James Hilty, 27, of Ada.

Hilty’s truck collided with a barn, trapping him inside. First responders extracted him from the vehicle, and he was transported to Lima Memorial Health System with serious injuries. Baker was also taken to Lima Memorial for minor injuries. The crash is still under investigation.

Jackson Township – The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lima Post is investigating a serious injury crash involving two vehicles that occurred on August 12, 2025, at approximately 8:47 a.m. The collision happened at the intersection of Reservoir Road and McClure Road in Jackson Township, Allen County.

Dru Baker, age 22, of Benton Ridge, Ohio, was driving a 2009 Toyota MR2 north on McClure Road. James Hilty, 27, of Ada, Ohio, drove a 2009 Ford F-350 box truck west on Reservoir Road. The Toyota failed to yield at a stop sign and collided with a Ford. The Ford then veered off the left side of the road and collided with a barn. Mr. Baker was taken to Lima Memorial Hospital with reported minor injuries. Mr. Hilty was taken to Lima Memorial Hospital with reported serious injuries.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Department, Johnny Appleseed Park Rangers, Bath Township Fire Department and EMS, Lafayette-Jackson EMS, Harrod Township EMS, Perry Fire Department, Lima Fire Department, Miller Auto, and Army’s Auto Wrecking all assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol at the scene. The crash is still under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol wants to remind drivers not to drive distracted and to always wear a properly adjusted safety belt.
