President Donald Trump shook hands with Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton as he arrived in the United Kingdom for his second state visit. Trump, 79, arrived in England on Wednesday, September 17, with wife Melania Trump. Hello! According to the magazine, Trump called Kate, 43, “beautiful” as they shook hands. The Prince and Princess of Wales, who will host Trump at Windsor Castle, led a carriage procession around the palace grounds.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla were also present when Trump arrived. Charles, 76, traveled in a carriage with Trump, while Camilla, 78, rode with Melania, 55. Trump is scheduled for a two-day state visit with the royal family. Trump will visit Queen Elizabeth II’s grave at St George’s Chapel before attending a state dinner honoring him at Windsor on Wednesday evening. Trump will also meet with Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday, September 18. This is Trump’s second visit to the United Kingdom, having previously traveled there in 2019.
“My relationship is very good with the U.K., and Charles, as you know, who’s now king, is my friend,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday, September 16, before departing for England. “And it’s the first time this has ever happened where somebody was honored twice, so it’s a great honor.” Trump’s visit to the royal family comes one week after Charles unexpectedly reunited with Prince Harry on September 10. “The meeting was sparked by a handwritten letter from Harry to Charles earlier this year expressing his desire to reconnect,” a source told Us Weekly exclusively. “They were not sure it was going to happen until just in the last week.”
According to the insider, the reunion was “very emotional” for both men, but it was also a “super positive and very relaxed meeting.”
According to the source, Harry, 41, and Charles “were catching up personally” throughout the meeting. “There were hugs and tears at the meeting,” the insider explained. When speaking with reporters during his trip to the United Kingdom, Harry provided a brief update on his father. (Harry traveled to his home country to attend the WellChild Awards on September 8).
“Yes, he’s great, thank you,” the Duke of Sussex stated following the meeting.
Harry also told The Guardian on Sunday, September 14, that he hopes to reconcile with Charles in the coming year. “The focus really has to be on my dad,” he told the newspaper, adding that he would like to spend more time in the United Kingdom. “This week has definitely brought that closer.”
