Shawnee Township, Allen County, Ohio – The S.O.S. Project hit the road on Saturday to raise money for local veterans.

The group held its annual Poker Run at Schoony’s Pub in Shawnee Township, where dozens of motorcyclists set out on a nearly 70-mile journey through the area. The event is one of several ways the S.O.S. Project helps men and women who have served in the military. Founded 13 years ago, the organisation helps veterans with food and utilities, as well as support for agencies that provide service dogs.

“There is never enough support for these guys.” Getting good assistance can be difficult at times due to the government process. So, if we can just fill in a few blanks, that would be great. They agreed to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to be able to help others. And we have veterans on our committee, including my son, and it is important for us to give back,” said Harold Neal, president of the S.O.S. Project.

In addition to the Poker Run, the group holds a Fall Fest in September at Schoony’s Pub to raise additional funds for veterans in need.
