We now have rough estimates of how many protesters lined sidewalks and flanked government buildings in Northeast Indiana last Saturday.
According to Jim Carpenter of Indivisible Northeast Indiana, approximately 5,000 people took part in the Allen County protest on the Courthouse Green in downtown Fort Wayne.
According to the Noble County Resistance Coalition, 110 people were in front of Albion’s courthouse, the second stop in a rolling protest that began in LaGrange and continued to Auburn.
According to officials, approximately 175 people attended the LaGrange protest, with an additional 300 in DeKalb County.
At each of these four protests, attendees were asked to bring donations for local charities, particularly items not covered by WIC or SNAP benefits.
Carpenter reported that over 2,500 items were donated in Allen County. The Albion protest generated donations for three Noble County charities.
The national organizations that organized the No Kings protests have planned another national protest day on July 17 in honor of the late Congressman John Lewis.
Several protests and marches were held in Northeast Indiana as part of the nationwide No Kings Day of Action against the Trump administration.
Protests also occurred in Warsaw, Decatur, Angola, North Manchester, and Wabash.
