This weekend, individuals figure out how to stay cool

LIMA, Ohio – Mother Nature raised the temperature this weekend, and people looked for a place to relax.

That is exactly what they were doing at Wapakoneta Water Park. Whether it was taking a dip to cool off, sliding down the many slides, or performing cannonballs off the high dive, everyone was having fun at the pool while trying to stay cool.

“We’re doing everything we can to avoid too much sun, staying inside with the air conditioner, and obviously coming to the swimming pool today; this pool, in particular, has something for each of our kids. We have five little kids aged nine and under, and there’s something for every one of them,” said Dean Puthoff, a father who was cooling off in the pool with his family.

However, for some, cooling off entails switching from the poolside to a scoop. On a day like today, Whippy Dip’s ice cream does not get any better.

“Definitely, it tastes better. “You just have to eat it before it melts,” said Tommy Hamlin, who was cooling down with some ice cream.

“Yeah, it tastes a lot better when it’s all nice and warm out,” added Lauren McGue, who was sharing a treat with Hamlin.

“Lots of swimming. We went to get ice cream today, just to get out and do something fun, to take our minds off of the unbearable heat,” Hamlin explained.

People are finding ways to beat the heat this weekend, whether by swimming or scooping.
